Our history began in 1990, when Mr. Juan Ángel González Insaurralde founded the group as a Latin American representation of the German company Aktiv AG.
Since then, we have evolved and grown, keeping our commitment to offering reliable and effective insurance solutions.
1980
First meeting between the AAACI (Argentine Association of Freight Forwarders) president, Mr. Oscar Villar, and Mr. Juan Ángel González Insaurralde with the purpose of creating a freight forwarder’s liability insurance policy for Latin America, which sparked the development of this line of insurance in the entire region.
1990
Mr. Juan Ángel González Insaurralde and Mr. Jürgen Bochanski, Aktiv AG president, coordinate efforts for the German insurer to start operating in the Latin American market, appointing Buenos Aires as the operational base for the region. Aktiv AG Latin America, supported by FIATA, launches a revolutionary product in the market: the Liability Insurance Policy. The company consolidates its position in the freight forwarders regional market in Mexico, Colombia, Uruguay, and Chile.
2000
On November 29, 2004 Assekuransa is born and is launched in the “First International Assekuransa Meeting” with the presence of renowned personalities from the international trade industry. It continues operating as the exclusive representative of the German group Aktiv AG in Latin America.
Assekuransa Compañía de Seguros starts operating as an insurance company in Argentina in the transport industry in March 2008.
2010
Assekuransa Compañía de Seguros joins the civil liability insurance industry in 2011. Assekuransa Compañía de Seguros adds customs bonds to its portfolio in the bond insurance market. Then the company starts issuing IATA bonds. In 2014 Cielo Azulado joins the Group, which marks the start of our agribusiness activity. We purchased Assekuransa Peninsular as an insurance brokerage firm in Spain.
2020
Classe Stelle, a company for the transport of passengers by air, is established. The company reaches its first one hundred flights in September of that same year. The Board of Directors is set up with Mr. Juan Ángel González Insaurralde, Mr. Juan Carlos Lynch, and Mr. Carlos Escobar Herrán as its members. Assekuransa Compañía de Seguros is rated A+ by Moody’s. Mr. Jürgen Bochanski is appointed as Chairman of the Board of Directors.
2023
Assekuransa Group takes a big leap in Europe with the creation on December 15 of the insurance company officially named Assek Europe.
