Liability Insurance

In the course of their business, freight forwarders and logistics operators need to hire companies which handle the goods entrusted to them by their clients so that these goods may be carried to intermediate destinations, loaded in and unloaded from the various means of transport used throughout their conveyance, temporarily stored, consolidated, and so on, until they reach their final destination.

As a result of these contracts, direct or joint and several liability may ensue, and freight forwarders and logistics operators may find themselves facing a duty to pay compensation resulting from judicial claims. With Liability Insurance, they get the legal and financial support needed to deal with the legal actions filed by their clients, and thus they remain protected from the risks involved in their business.

By hiring this insurance, you will be covered from your client’ claims by:

  • Delegating the follow-up of legal actions all around the world to expert international trade attorneys, and
  • Receiving compensation, when applicable.

This policy covers the liability of freight forwarders or logistics operators in the following areas:

  • Issuance and receipt of shipping documents
  • Error or omission in the international trade operations in which they engage
  • Legal counsel and representation at an international level
  • Payment of court costs resulting from legal actions
  • Handling of goods during loading and unloading operations, temporary storage, carriage and transshipment, as provided for under trade regulations and domestic rules of the insured’s country
